Day 28 – We made it

Our final day on the Camino, 28km to go. It was not going to be a hot day about 28-30c. But we started out very early, it was still dark. Without coffee, without breakfast. But it was not long before we stopped for a coffee, about 600m. About 6km later, Breakfast consisted of a donut, some biscuits.

Early on there were quite a few pilgrims on the road, but as the day progressed the numbers thinned out. Some passed us, some fell back. Most of the path took us through country lanes, small villages and open farmland. The last few kms were uphill and through Santiago suburbia, not a pretty sight.

Our hotel in Santiago de Compostela is next door to the cathedral. The view is pretty good.

The last few times we have been here the cathedral was being renovated, covered in scaffolding and at times closed completely. The work was completed in time for the Holy Year of 2021/22.

Cheers to completing the Camino Portuguese.
