The start of the day was a bit of a concern, it was bucketing down with rain. This delayed our start to about 9am. The bonus was a bit if cloud cover all day and the temperature was a bit cooler.
We covered about 23km today and stopped about 4 times to have a break, and change socks. We try and have a coffee break after about 5km or so each morning.
We walked through fields of sunflowers, the photo shows the sunflowers and its the same as we feel at the end if each day.
We visited a number of old church’s that are open to all Pilgrims. One of which had some skeletal remains in a glass casket.
Hey. Friend of Rob’s from CoolDrive (Mark) who did the Camino this time two years ago. If you are in Foncebadon (After Astorga – near the Cruz de Ferro) around lunchtime, do yourself a favour and have a meal at the “La Taberna de Gaia”. Doesn’t look much from the outside (like Foncebadon itself:) but is magnificent inside…and the food is fantastic. I stayed in Foncebadon and it was a great night in an out-of-the-way spot on top of the mountain. Good luck and looking forward to the posts. Wish I was there again. Enjoy the grape harvest festivals as you head across.
