Day 11 – Portugalete to Castro Urdiales

An enforced rest day today. The rain combined with Janice having a sore foot prevented us from walking today. The rain may have set in for a few days and we will take it a day at a time.

We left the Basque country and entered Cantabria. Both want independence from the Spanish government.

The walk would have taken us through some heavy industrial areas including beside a refinery so no great loss there.

Castro-Urdiales is working fishing port with fishing boats unloading their catches.

It was a grey dull day

There also an old fort, now turned into lighthouse as well as a gothic style church.
