Day 26 – Astorga to Foncebadon

I started this day early, just at sunrise, expecting it to be a long, hot day. A walked for a couple of hours before stopping for breakfast, making very good time. Coffee and chocolate pastry.

The Camino is very busy with pilgrims, a lot of people start from Astorga as well as Leon.

The scenery varied quite a lot today, as I started to climb yet another mountain range. I hope to get to Cruz de Ferro tomorrow morning.

I stopped for a quick break before the final 5km ascent to Foncebaden.

Today I took my first tumble, I tripped on a tree root while clearing the sweat from my eyes and went A over T off the path and just stopped short of going off the side of a hill. Nothing broken or bruised, just my ego as a group of young people I had passed about 5 minutes earlier rushed up to pick me up.
