Today was going to be a long day so we started at first light, stayed out for Leon. This would also be our last day on the Meseta.

And when the sun came up it was fierce. A long hot, dry day.

These signs actually do mean it.
Look closely at the next couple of photos, a small deer crossed the road in front of me. I don’t know why it crossed the road – to get to the other side?

It just stopped, looked at me and continued to amble across the road and disappeared into the corn fields.
We walked along a Calazada Romano (Roman Road) for 17km today, the original but not today’s Camino path. Parts of it have national status and you cannot walk on it. This bought us down from the Meseta into Religios. A very rough and ready little town.

Good boots are your best friend, these maybe not.
We stopped in Mansula de las Mulas for lunch.
