Day 15 – BURGOS

After a gruelling couple of days we needed to rest and repair. Jayne needed a physio and I needed to attend to some blisters. We spent some time today at Burgos Cathedral. El Cid is buried there. A Spanish hero from the 11th century. Portrayed by Charlton Heston in 1961 Movie of the same name.

Burgos Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a good example of Gothic style architecture,

El CID’s coffin, It’s empty

Santiago, the Moor slayer

The sounds of Burgos Cathedral, it use real bells from both spires. This went on for 15 minutes from 7-7:15pm prior to 7:30 pilgrims mass.

And now for a little bit of Hollywood, the scene from ‘The Way” where Tom’s backpack is (containing his sons ashes) is stolen by a gypsy boy from out front of this bar.

Then after dinner, walking back to the hotel we came across this folk dancing group behind the Cathedral.
