“I can’t stand it to think my life is going so fast and I’m not really living it” – Hemingway (the sun also rises)
Up early this morning , last night I had managed to secure tickets to the bullring for the running of the bulls. We had to be there by 7am and it was a 30 minute walk from our hotel. The streets were packed with people, many had been up all night.

The bull run only takes 2 and a half minutes. Those that make it into the bull ring dodge the bulls as they go straight through the bull ring into the safety of their pens. The people are then kept there while young bulls are realised back into the bull ring one at a time and start chasing people around, occasionally catching them and then flinging them in the air or trampling on them.

A couple of people had to be carried off. Bulls 2. People 0.

This behemoth of a bull is to fight in the Bull Fights tonight. Steak for dinner?
We had breakfast at Cafe Iruna, Ernest Hemingway’s favourite bar. Churros con chocolate for me.
Sanfermin is a big festival in Pamplona, the streets are packed with people, it goes 24hrs/day all week.
We also saw the Pamplona Giants, parading through the city streets.

Then we spent most of the afternoon sitting by the local public pool. It is a rest day after all.
