Santiago de Compostela to Negreira ~ 22km

Well it rained all weekend, Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night but it cleared by the time we started walking on Monday morning. So we started walking to Finisterre and Muxia.

It was also very cold this morning, and we had to rug up wearing layers of clothes. We made it to Negreira with out getting wet. This part of Galicia is known for being wet and cold.

We forgot to take into account a 2.8km climb up Alto Mar do Ovellas even though we came this way in 2015. It took us 1.5hrs to climb and 30 minutes to get down the other side.
The lower temperatures meant that it was OK for walking,  and the clouds kept the sun off us.

We had a couple of stops today, but we’re surprised by some that were closed. Its 1st May, May Day holiday here. Most business are closed.

Our 1st coffee stop (7km) was overrun by pilgrims, as all previous potential stops were closed.

We stopped for lunch after climbing down from Alto mar do Ovellas, and ordered a Bocadillo each, big mistake. Each one was a 45cm long roll filled with bacon, cheese, and salad.

This is an example of a Pilgrims menu, it’s much the same wherever we go. So tonight is chickpeas with meat and meat in sauce.
