We left Porto behind today, it’s going to be hard to leave all you can buffet champagne breakfasts, fluffy pillows, king bed, doonas, air con, hot showers, room service etc etc.
We visited the cathedral yesterday and obtained our carimbo’s, so we have no need to back today.
So rather than walk up the hill back into Porto, and out through the suburbs and industrial areas we caught a taxi to Vila do Pinheiro, about 20 mins from where we stayed. This meant we started the day on the fringes of the suburbs/country area, somewhere near the airport. It still meant we had to deal with traffic, on some of the roads however, sometimes there was no shoulder for us to move to and avoid the oncoming vehicles.

Most of the walk was on country roads, and village lane ways, but some of it moved back to the highway at times. There are know detours that go around some of the more dangerous sections, this however adds kilometers to the distance we walk.

We ended up walking about 12km today, and this was ok as Janice’s is just getting over her blisters.
Our accommodation was at, what appeared to be a non descript house, but inside was a garden with deck chairs in the shade. The proprietor provided a mini bar with drinks at a very reasonable cost, and in the evening surprised us with home made up cakes and a carafe of port (FOC).
