The night in the Albergue wasn’t great. A bit of noise as some people arrived late, and more noise as people left before dawn. Plus the bunk beds were uncomfortable.

The walk out of Cernache was largely uphill, on roads and through forested areas.

We saw our first group of pilgrims heading to Fatima from Santiago de Compostela, the reverse direction to us.

We entered a small town, and started walking uphill to a church when the lady that looks after the church invited us in for a rest. She stamped our credentials and made us a cup of coffee. I think she went home to make the coffee, and brought it back for us on a tray. This was in a town that, according to the guide book, has no services for pilgrims.

At times the view from the mountain was great, as we walked towards Coimbra.

Coimbra is a Unesco listed town.
