Today was supposed to be a fairly easy day, oh how wrong I was. It was 20km, in 32c heat, no breeze and over several large, steep hills.

The walking was mainly on country roads and bush tracks, through some vineyards and olive groves.
We are starting to meet other pilgrims walking to Santiago de Compostela, today we had breakfast with people from Switzerland and France, and we met a couple from Germany at one of our rest stops. Still this is nowhere the numbers we experienced on the Camino Frances.

Normally I would churn through up to 1 liter of water every hour, we have to ration this to what we can carry as there are no water fountains with potable water. Every liter of water weighs 1kg.
We stopped as often as we needed to, and rested in the shade when we could but it was very shade free today.

Eventually, we climbed another hill and arrived into Rabacal. A smallish town. We are staying at the municipal albergue at the Centro Turismo, we get a bed, sheets/blankets, towel and bathroom. So it meets our needs. Dinner is up the road at the Cafe Bonito. It will be basic.
So we have had a couple of vinos and are sitting back watching the world go by.
Dinner was obtained up the hill at cafe Bonito, a local cafe that also provided some accommodation in shared bunk rooms. We met a few other pilgrims there that we had met along the path. A young local man, who’s parents owned an albergue a weeks walk from here, was promoting his Albergue. He looked a lot like Tom Cruise in Top Gun. (Or so Janice said).
