Today we strayed off the route to Santiago de Compostela, and took a side trip to Fatima. To the Portuguese this is their most important religious site. “As long as there are Portuguese there will be a Fatima” – Portuguese quote. It is 61km or 2 days walk in and 2 days walk out, so we took a bus. Euro9.9 each and an express lux coach to Fatima from Santarem.
